CONTEMPORARY ORIGINAL FINE ART

Kim Mercury is a Canadian visual artist who lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

"My paintings are about preserving a sense of place, and that always starts with the light.

Sometimes the place is a quiet shoreline in Northwest Ontario at sunset. Sometimes it's a garden in bloom on a grey day, an early morning mountain landscape, or a simple arrangement of flowers bathed in soft light. What draws me to a subject isn't simply how it looks, but what it feels like to experience it. I hope my paintings connect with viewers in that same way.

I'm fascinated by the way light affects a scene—how bright sunlit reflections dance across water, how shadows soften the edges of a flower, and how the edge of a tree or a vase can quietly dissolve into the background. Those nuances inspire me because they help convey the emotional experience of a place."
